2023 has been an exciting year for Tilia Homes. From development launches and show home unveilings, to important community and conservation efforts and people and business milestones, we’ve achieved a lot in the last 12 months.

In case you missed it, here’s a snapshot of some the fantastic work our team has achieved in 2023…

Launching Very Important Properties with Very Important People

2023 saw our team open the doors to several new developments, including our beautiful Kings Park development, in Cottenham and Forge Place in Stanton Cross.

As part of our commitment to the Cottenham community, we have invested £1.6m into local councils to support healthcare, education and road infrastructure in the area as well as making a commitment to reducing CO2 on site by 10% by using fabric first and renewable materials on at least 45 dwellings.

At Forge Place, meanwhile, we welcomed some very special guests to the unveiling of our development and show homes. Pupils from Stanton Cross Primary School joined us to celebrate the eagerly anticipated launch of the 81-home development and stunning show home and view home.

Competition winner cuts the ribbon at Cashmere Park show home

We love to involve the local communities close to our developments in all their major milestones, which is why we asked the pupils at South Molton United C of E Primary School to help us design one of the bedrooms of our brand-new show home at Cashmere Park.

When it came to unveil the beautiful home, we welcomed back the pupils, along with competition winner, Isaaz Jimenez, who got to see his outer space themed bedroom come to life.

He even got to cut the ribbon at Cashmere Park to launch the show home!

Works commence Westhill and Stortford Fields

Our Eastern team got to work on two very exciting developments, including the final phase of homes at our popular Westhill development, in Kettering. This will be a thriving collection of 91 homes, with something for everyone on the property ladder.

It’s important, when placemaking, to enrich the communities in which we’re building, which is why we’ve pledged more than £670,000 towards local infrastructure, education and leisure facilities.

At Stortford Fields, meanwhile the team has broken ground on land on Newland Avenue in Bishop’s Stortford. Plans for 51 properties, in a range of one- to four-bedroom homes, will be available to prospective buyers in the New Year!

Beautiful Brook Manor begins…

Ground has been broken at Brook Manor! Our Western team drew inspiration from the community and conservation in its design. Watch this space for launch details in January 2024!

We’re especially excited to bring elements of nature, conservation, and wellness to Brook Manor, with a play area for children and families to enjoy, as well as green open spaces and bat and bird boxes, to ensure the rural feel of the village is felt on the stylish, energy efficient development.

World Book Days sees special community pledge made…

To celebrate World Book Day back in March we launched a special community initiative dedicated to supporting local libraries, book clubs, schools, community causes, while incentivising and encouraging important science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) curriculum subjects critical to careers in engineering, production and other roles in construction and property.

As an industry, we’re facing an immeasurable skills gap within the construction sector and we’re keen to make sure that younger generations understand the fantastic career path available to them within housebuilding, which is why we spend time presenting career talks in school and at our development and offer books that discuss STEM subjects wherever we can.

Construction in the classroom

Everyday is a school day as they say, and that could not have been truer for pupils at Wombridge Primary School, in Telford, who had an important lesson in construction health and safety from our Central team.

The sessions, which are run across the country, aim to teach children about how homes are built safely, while opening their minds to a possible future career in construction and engineering.

Tilia raises £100k for Emmaus UK

The whole business banded together to raise a very impressive £100,000 for Emmaus UK, the national organisation dedicated to supporting people out of homelessness.

The amount will go towards funding projects to improve the sustainability of communities, grow social enterprises, and provide personal and professional development opportunities to individuals who have experienced homelessness.

Each of our regional businesses has supported Emmaus through events, fundraising on site, charity golf days, show home furniture donations to Emmaus stores and both team and individual challenges. Congratulations to all for a fantastic effort and amount raised!

Templecombe pupils enjoy outdoor learning space…

Teams from Tilia Homes Western and Morgan Sindall worked together to build a brand-new shelter for pupils at Abbas and Templecombe Primary School, on School Lane, close to our Knights Meadow development.

The space will be used to support the school’s full curriculum programme, as well as a cool place to enjoy outdoor activities during the warmer weather. We’re proud to be able to use our team’s skills and expertise to help such a great community project – one that families at Knights Meadow are likely to benefit from when living on the development, too.

Our people make our business great…

Our people form the heart of our business, which is why we made a video to share some of their stories and advice for people looking to pursue a career in construction. From professional rugby players to those who always knew peppery was for them, everybody’s story is interesting, unique and valuable. Take a look for yourself…

We won…!

The health and safety of our teams and homeowners is our utmost priority, which is why we could not be prouder to have won the prestigious RoSPA President’s Award in recognition of receiving the coveted gold award for the 10th consecutive year.

This was for our unwavering commitment to prioritising the health and safety of our people as demonstrated in our impressive Accident Incidence Rate (AIR), which was 75% lower than the Health and Safety Executive’s industry benchmark.

The internationally recognised awards, run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), reward organisations that are the trailblazers and world leaders in health and safety practice and the promotion of wellbeing in the workplace.

Tanton Fields and Alston Grange residents make neighbours with nature…

We’ve welcomed some very special critters to two of our development in the North this year. Two Nature Arc ‘bug hotels’ were installed at our Alston Grange development, in Longridge, and The Bluebells at Tanton Fields, in Stokesley, as part of our efforts to encourage wildlife to the area.

We’ve also created quite the buzz at The Bluebells at Tanton Fields with two new honeybee colonies also residing on the development. Not only does this protect the species but will also allow for residents and visitors to enjoy honey directly from the development! Sweet!

…And while that’s almost a wrap for 2023, we’ve lots of exciting things planned already for next year and look forward to supporting even more community causes in the areas we’re building and handing the keys over to many more homeowners in 2024!
