We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly and dynamic Commercial team based in our Eastern Region office in Bedford. About the Role
As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the Commercial team in delivering high-quality and cost-effective housing developments. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks that will give you exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the preparation and distribution of tender packs to subcontractors and suppliers
- Chasing and collating subcontractor quotations
- Supporting general commercial administration tasks
- Maintaining and updating procurement trackers
- Assisting in the preparation of commercial reports for Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Supporting the team with document control and filing systems
- Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial operations
Departmental Rotation
To provide a well-rounded understanding of the commercial function, this role will also include structured rotations in the Buying Department and Estimating Department. During these rotations, you will:
- Gain insight into procurement strategies and supplier negotiations
- Assist in material scheduling and order placement
- Support the estimating team in preparing cost plans and feasibility studies
- Learn how early-stage cost assessments influence project viability and design decisions
