Tilia Homes celebrates Potton’s heritage with new public sculpture installation

Residents in Potton can now enjoy a striking new celebration of the town’s heritage, as Tilia Homes, part of the untypical Group, unveils a collection of bespoke sculptures inspired by Bedfordshire’s rural history.

Located at the housebuilder’s former Tall Trees development in Potton, the installation features a series of handcrafted sculptures created by local artist, Paul Pipworth. Among the collection is a life-sized Shire horse inspired by Paul’s own family ties to Bedfordshire’s farming community, where generations of his family worked the fields.

Paul said: “The horse in particular holds something very special in my heart. My dear old dad was a ‘hossman’, working alongside horses in the fields with his father before him. Shire horses are the gentlest of animals, known for both their strength and beauty, and they played a vital role in rural life before tractors changed farming forever.”

Intricate text etched into the Shire horse sculpture celebrates the strength, beauty and hard work that defined agricultural life for generations. Alongside the horse are a series of engraved stone apples featuring references to local culture and history, including the famous Bedfordshire Clanger, together creating a mini heritage trail for residents and visitors to discover.

The installation creates a lasting landmark for the Tall Trees community and reflects Tilia Homes’ continued commitment to celebrating local character across its developments, including nearby Brook Gardens, where the final homes are now on sale.

Jon Cook, Regional Managing Director at untypical’s Eastern region said: “We’re incredibly proud to unveil these sculptures and grateful for the passion and craftsmanship Paul has brought to the project.

“The installation celebrates Potton’s rich history and creates something meaningful for both current and future generations. We hope residents and visitors alike will enjoy exploring the sculptures and learning more about the stories behind them.”

The sculptures are open for public viewing at the Tall Trees development in Potton, within walking distance of Market Square.

Brook Gardens offers a collection of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes from £334,950, with EV car charging and air source heat pumps as standard. Selected homes are also designed to be more accessible and adaptable for different mobility needs, including wheelchair-friendly layouts.
