Local teacher Chloe shares how she found a home close to work, friends and family, with village life on her doorstep and support throughout her move.
When Chloe started looking for a new home, she wanted somewhere closer to work, with a village feel and a sense of community. She was also keen to buy a new build.
At Kings Park in Cottenham, she found a home that brought those priorities together, with green spaces to enjoy and everyday essentials close by.
Village life close to work
As a teacher at a local secondary school, Chloe wanted a location that made her daily journey easier.
“I’m a teacher in one of the local secondary schools, so this was a great location for me,” she explains. “It also means I don’t have to use the big motorways every day, but they’re really accessible when I need them.”
Friends and family are nearby, and she finds it easy to get into Cambridge to catch a train. Closer to home, Cottenham has plenty of places she already enjoys using.
“Cottenham has everything that I would want it to have. I use the local shops, the takeaways, and there are some great pubs you can walk to.”
For Chloe, it means having the convenience of village amenities while still being within reach of Cambridge when she wants to head further afield.
Green space close to home
The setting at Kings Park also helped Chloe decide where she wanted to live. She liked the green spaces and the way the homes felt part of a community, with space between them.
She chose a plot on the edge of the development, giving her views across the green space. She is also looking forward to exploring more of the nearby walks.
“Kings Park feels like a really nice area to be in,” she says.
Making her new home her own
With help from the sales team, Chloe looked around a variety of properties to work out which one would be the right size and fit for her.
Once she had chosen her home, she was able to look through samples and make choices for her kitchen and flooring. Seeing the house develop over the following months made the move feel all the more exciting.
“I was able to walk around the house while it was still a shell and then see it come to life over the next few months, which was really exciting.”
Support throughout the move
Chloe describes her experience of buying with Tilia Homes as smooth and straightforward. Being able to ask questions and get updates helped her feel comfortable throughout the process.
“They kept me really well informed, which meant I was at ease the whole time and knew where I stood.”
That support continued on moving day. The team talked Chloe through her new home and made sure she knew how everything worked.
A few days later, someone returned to check how she was getting on with the washing machine and dishwasher, and whether she had experienced any problems. Those practical touches made a lasting impression.
“I feel like they really cared about my moving-in experience, and I would really recommend them to others.”
