What are the best things to do in Exeter?

You’ll find plenty of things to do in Exeter for the whole family. You can spend the day exploring Exeter Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England, then relax on the surrounding green which is a popular meeting spot, especially in spring and summer.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum is another favourite, offering free entry and showcasing exhibitions, which covers everything from the fossilised remains of prehistoric life to the very latest work by contemporary artists.

Just a short walk from the city centre, Exeter Quayside is one of the city’s highlights, especially on warm days. Known for its beautiful riverside setting, it has long waterside paths, a choice of places to eat, water sports hire and views across the river. The Quay is also a starting point for the route to Turf locks, a flat, traffic-free walk or cycle beside the water. In summer, The Quay hosts outdoor concerts, food events and the well-supported dragon boat racing weekend.

And when you’re looking for family fun, Crealy Theme Park & Resort has over 60 rides, indoor and outdoor play, live shows and events all year-round.
