After
renting for a number of years, The Fairways presented Sylvia not only an
opportunity to get on the property ladder, but also a chance to take advantage
of a flexible work schedule.
Sylvia
had been working from home two days a week and three days in the office for 7
years.
“I
originally grew up in Battersea, but moved to Slough so I could be closer to
work.”
Three
months before the move, Sylvia and her two daughters, aged 5 and 8, were
renting in Slough, working from home full time.
“I
was preparing to buy, but I thought to myself ‘do we have to buy and stay and
Slough?’. I spoke to my younger sister, who raved about Corby and its
surrounding areas and encouraged us to move up there as well. After some
careful thinking, that’s what we decided to do.”
Sylvia’s
search began soon after in and around the Northamptonshire town, where she
viewed four other developments, before finding her ideal home at The Fairways.
Seeking
a balanced life for she and her girls, Sylvia was hopeful of finding somewhere
that was affordable, yet close to both town and country.
The
36-year old added: “I found (The Fairways) to be very affordable compared to
the others I’d been to see. Couple that with the green and peaceful feel of the
area and a move here naturally made sense.”
Location
aside, the choice of home mattered as well, with Sylvia wanting somewhere that
had enough space and was easy to navigate.
She
said: “The Palmerston stood
out when I first visited The Fairways at Priors Hall Park, particularly the
size of the rooms, the layout and the amount of storage space.”
First
impressions also counted with Sylvia, whose glowing account of her initial
visit to The Fairways immediately laid the necessary groundwork: “I experienced
a much warmer welcome when I first visited, so you could say things immediately
got off to a great start.”
Yet
even though she works from home on a full-time basis, Sylvia knows that if
she’s needed in Horsham she can get down there with ease.
“Whilst
it’s a long commute, I’m able to do it by either road or rail. But I’ve only
done it twice since I began working from home full time so it’s a rare
occurrence.” Sylvia said.
The
money Sylvia saved by buying in Corby instead of Slough was boosted with the
Help to Buy scheme.
“Choosing
Corby over Slough was already going to save me money, but using Help to Buy as
well was just the cherry on top.”
Ranging
from two-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, The Fairways has proven
highly popular, with a limited number of homes available. Prices begin at
£141,995 for two-bedroom apartments, £229,995 for three-bedroom houses and £235,995
for four-bedroom houses.
