The Villas is a unique collection of one and two-bedroom homes, each retaining individual character and charm alongside all the convenience of a modern, new-build home.

Hawkhead Village blends both new and refurbished homes as architects have worked hard with Kier Living Caledonia to retain elements of the original art deco style used at the former district hospital site by Scottish artist Thomas Smith Tait. Work at The Villas, created in the former hospital laundry building, began in March 2015 and comprises eight stylish one and two-bedroom terraced homes, some with a mezzanine floor.

Sales and marketing director David Thomas said; “These latest homes at Hawkhead Village really have to be viewed to be fully appreciated. With high ceilings and large windows they are spacious and make the most of the natural light.

“People buying these unique properties will get something really special, with retained character from the original building and all the benefits of a new-build home in a fantastic, established location. We anticipate demand for these homes will be high.”

Works began in 2015 on the cubicle building, which formerly housed a containment ward, to convert it into 12 one and two-bed luxury apartments, due to be completed later this year. The former nurses’ home is set to become 14 one and two-bedroom apartments and the administration building transformed into 12 homes. Work on both these projects begins this year.

The community of more than 300 homes has been shortlisted in the Building Conservation category for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards for Scotland 2016. This nomination follows hot on the heels of Hawkhead Village’s win in the Residential category at the same awards last year. The development also won Show Home of the Year in the Scottish Home Awards 2015.
