Local School Children Bury Time Capsule

Tilia Homes has teamed up with a local school to give future generations of Wrangaton a glimpse into life in the village in 2022 by burying a time capsule at its local development, The Langfords.

Children from Ugborough Primary School were tasked to design a poster all about life in Wrangaton in 2022, with the winning design buried in the time capsule and to be excavated and rediscovered by future generations in 2072. Other contributions to the capsule included diary inserts from pupils, letters and questions to future residents, alongside a brochure revealing all about The Langfords.

The school joined Tilia Homes at the site of the new homes on Saturday 20 August 2022 to bury the capsule and mark the creation of the blossoming new neighbourhood.

Emma Cotterill, Sales and Marketing Director at Tilia Homes Western, comments: “This has been such a fun project for all those involved, especially the school, to create a little bit of history for the site. It was great to see all of the children designs and it will be a very special occasion when future residents of The Langfords uncover the capsule 50 years from now and for them to learn all about what life was like when their homes were built back in 2022.

“It was a great way too to mark all of the homes at The Langfords being reserved and sold and celebrate the start of a new community. What better way to commemorate this than to have a bit of history built within the foundations of the new development?”

Mrs Lucy French, Headteacher at Ugborough Primary School, added: “The children at Ugborough Primary School loved getting involved with the time capsule project and they gave plenty for the future residents of The Langfords to discover about life in 2022. Their letters really showcase how switched-on the children are with their surroundings and the situations in the world as they spoke about the pandemic and the current environmental situation.”

With The Langfords being fully reserved, the closest development for those looking for a beautiful new-build home from Tilia Homes is The Oaks in Woolwell, Plymouth. Less than 30 minutes away, this popular development offers a range of three- and four-bedroom homes perfectly located between countryside and coastline.
