The quality of Kier Living’ sites across the UK has been endorsed after seven of its site managers were named Quality Award winners in the first round of the NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Awards.
The house-building industry’s most prestigious awards programme, the Pride in the Job Awards recognise the UK’s best site managers. The winning managers from Kier Living are: Ben Smith at Millbrook Meadows in Gamlingay near Cambridge; Steve Malmquist at Round House Park in Norwich; Max Perrin at Connect21 in Peterborough; Andrew Smith and Greg Wimsey at Wygate Park in Spalding, Lincolnshire; Andy Clements at The Avenue in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and Martin Harvey at The Waterfront in Worthing.
Competition was tough, with 15,000 site managers battling it out to become one of the 446 to win the awards across the categories. The year-long judging process saw each manager assessed against stringent criteria defined by the NHBC’s technical standards for building new homes.
Mike Quinton, NHBC chief executive, said: “For nearly 35 years, Pride in the Job has been a fundamental component of NHBC’s work to raise standards through the celebration and sharing of best practice. Our winners are at the forefront of the house-building recovery, making sure that quality is maintained and improved year-on-year, as they raise the bar for success in the competition.”
Nick Moore, managing director of Kier Living, said: “This is an amazing endorsement for the quality of our homes. All our teams consistently demonstrate incredible professionalism and to see the dedication of seven of our site managers recognised by the NHBC is tremendous.
“These awards provide further assurance for everyone buying a Kier home of the amazing workmanship and pride in the job that all our employees demonstrate.”
It is the second consecutive year that Andrew Smith, Andy Clements and Ben Smith have won this award. Ben Smith said: “To win this for the second year in a row is a huge achievement, and everyone at Kier Living is absolutely delighted.”
Having successfully completed the first of four stages, the 446 winners will now compete in the next round of the competition to win Seals of Excellence and/or Regional Award titles, with winners due to be announced at regional events in September and October 2014.
