People of all ages and circumstances will love living in Norwich. The city is packed full of great restaurants, bars, venues and clubs, offering a thrilling nightlife. Equally, there are two large shopping centres, five department stores and an array of independent stalls in The Lanes – one of the city’s premier retail hubs. Plus, you can find all the major supermarkets and high street stores you’d expect from a cosmopolitan city, which will ensure all your personal shopping needs are met.
As one of the UK’s most complete medieval cities, there are many historical sites dotted around the winding, cobbled streets. From the famous cathedral with its 315ft spire, to centuries old pubs, fascinating architecture and even the buried remains of Roman town Venta Icenorum, which is just outside the city centre.
With its location in the heart of Norfolk, Norwich is also within the boundaries of the Norfolk Broads National Park. As such there’s a wealth of rural landscapes to explore which offer pleasant walks and biking opportunities. In addition, you can also head along and enjoy the 125 miles of canals and lock-free waterways that bisect the region.
The Surrounding Area
Even though our new homes in Norwich are situated within idyllic country surroundings, there’s still a variety of useful transport options you can make the most of to get around and head further afield. The A11 and A47 are the main roads out of the city and link to nearby cities like Cambridge and on to the A1 and M11. Equally, Norwich’s train station has several direct connections around the rest of the country and for any international travel Norwich Airport has flights to several holiday destinations.
Other towns and villages like Bury St Edmunds, Peterborough and Great Yarmouth are just a few of the popular places surrounding Norwich that you can visit. The latter is also on the striking Norfolk coast, which in itself offers hundreds of miles of perfect beaches, cliffs teaming with seabirds and even several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
