The largest town in Shropshire, Telford is one of the fastest growing towns in the UK. Named after renowned civil engineer Thomas Telford, the town was founded in the 1960’s and was created as the merger of other smaller towns.
Telford is home to a modern shopping centre, pning 25 acres. The centre features several notable stores and is a hotspot for shoppers in the region. Another noted landmark in Telford is the Iron Bridge, the first bridge of its kind in the world to be made from cast iron.
The town also boasts a bustling nightlife, with several bars and restaurants in the recently revamped town centre. The centre also features a cinema complex and bowling alley/arcade.
The Surrounding Area
Based in Shropshire, Telford is close to several major cities and is situated at the terminus of the M54 motorway with links to Wolverhampton and the West Midlands. There are three railway stations situated within the town for transport to other cities and towns in the region.
Telford is also on the periphery of the Shropshire Hills, a sprawling reserve renowned for its stunning and picturesque views on the rolling hills.
