Peterborough fascinating & charming

A city rich in history

Oakthorpe lifestyle image

Oakthorpe benefits from everything the bustling city of Peterborough has to offer. For retail therapy, there’s the Queensgate Shopping Centre, whose myriad of stores includes John Lewis and Marks & Spencer; there is also a huge range of independent retailers dotted around the city’s charming streets.

When you’re in the mood for live entertainment, you’ll be spoilt for choice thanks to the Peterborough Arena and
Key Theatre, and there is a wealth of options when it comes to wining and dining. There are all of your chain favourites like Bella Italia and Chiquito, plus fine dining establishments such as Prévost for special occasions.

Oakthorpe is served by a number of primary schools such as Thorpe, Gladstone, Highlees and West Town Academy, while older children can attend The Peterborough School, The King’s School or Jack Hunt
secondary school.

When you want to get back to nature, head to the Cambridgeshire Fens where you can indulge in wildlife spotting, long walks and leisurely bike rides. If you enjoy keeping fit, you can test your stamina at the
Embankment Athletics Track or make the most of the gym and swim facilities at Vivacity’s neighbouring fitness and swimming centre

Local Area

The city has a huge amount to commend it to both resident and visitor alike. The town is popular for its historic attractions, including The Peterborough Museum – which underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2011 and features an original Victorian operating theatre. Peterborough is known as the Green City of the East of England, and for good reason. Just one of it’s glorious open spaces is Nene Park, a 10 mile stretch which is home to the Ferry Meadows Country Park – just perfect for enjoying the fresh air.
