Tilia Homes has submitted a reserved matters
application for a development of 129 high quality homes including two, three
and four bedroom private properties and one to four bedroom affordable homes
for social rent and shared ownership. Public open space and a children’s play
area will also be incorporated in the design and Tilia will be making a
significant contribution towards local education, highways and public
transport.
The site, which is currently agricultural land,
occupies a prime position south of the A361 North Devon Link Road which is
undergoing a £60m upgrade to a five mile stretch between South Molton and
Barnstaple. Devon County Council has described the work as ‘the biggest
transport investment in North Devon for a generation’ and says it will unlock
the true potential of the local economy.
The location of the new Tilia Homes development offers
a gateway to Exmoor national park and easy access to Barnstaple and Tiverton.
Tiverton Parkway train station provides direct rail services into London
Paddington, and Exeter International Airport is also just over 40 miles away.
South Molton itself is a thriving town with a good range of shops, restaurants
and a country market.
Andrew Spicer, Regional Director, at Tilia Homes
Western, comments: “We’re delighted to have acquired a premium site in such an
enviable location with good local amenities, excellent transport links and a
significant future investment. We have submitted a planning application for a
collection of high-quality homes and public open space which will complement
our existing portfolio of successful developments across the West Country.”
Tilia Homes was created following the recent sale of
Kier Living from Kier Group to private investment firm Terra Firma. Tilia
offers quality new homes on development across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and
Bristol.
The Western region is actively looking for new development opportunities
as it continues a programme of expansion across its operating area. For further
