What do the changes mean for you?
The Stamp Duty holiday applies to both first-time buyers and those moving on from an existing home.
From the 1st July 2021, a first time buyer buying a property below £500,000 or a existing homeowner buying below £250,000 won’t need to pay Stamp Duty until 30th June 2021.
Then if the home is between £300,001 and £500,000 the first time buyer will only pay 5% Stamp Duty on this proportion and if you a homeowner and would like to move then from the 1st July to 30th September, there will be a interim of £250,000 threshold and you could save up to £2,500.
